You are all stupid

At least this is what the majority of the internet users think about their oponnents.

Just watch this video here

Seriously, is this really necessary to repeat a scene you just watched in slowmotion where it isn’t necessary. And that five or even more times? It’s not helpful. It’s not funny. It’s just increasing internet traffic for nothing.

Where are the good old intervideos which were funny, original, new and especially not “made for dummies”.

Search terms

October 25th, 2008 No comments

Maybe it’s a bit to early to tell you which search terms using google followed to my blog but here it is:

fps lag every 5 minutes

Yes, this is an evil problem. You better buy a new graphic card my dear.

lua garbage collection game

I remember one of my rants against the Garry’s Mod garbage collection causing horrible fps drops every 5 minutes. Could this be related to the first search term? Who knows Wink

insurgency sucks

Are you just that type of 12-year-old who flames every game which is different to Counter Strike? Insurgency rocks! You just can’t run around and kill everyone with headshots like it’s in CS:S. In Insurgency you have to really play in teams.

Uh, you want to use me to make your own stargate in garry’s mod? I’m not that pleasured getting formed to a super conducting ring a.k.a. Stargate. Sorry. Atleast you spelled my name correctly. Thanks Smile

What’s going on?

October 19th, 2008 3 comments

You may know that I’m at University again. Luckily this semester is much easier than the last because I have three lectures instead of five. Well exactly it’s two and a half because one lecture is really really easy. My longest day is about from 8h – 14h. The others are all around 10h-12h and Friday is free LOL

But every cool part has it’s downsides: I have to take part at two practical courses. Both lasts three evenings per week and that three weeks long. And for every course I have three weeks time to write down the results.

Sounds much but is still lesser work than in the last semester. And luckily I also got one practical course which could be count for two of my lectures! Atleast that course is the same for both lectures. And seriously, why to do the same stuff twice? Even my tutor told me so.

And befor I forget: I passed my really last exam successfully. It’s just a 3.3 (on a scale of 1-5 where 1 is the best). That’s my worst grade yet. I generally had around 1.0 to 1.7 and one 2.0. But I’m quite lucky it’s all over and I only visited half of the lectures. So a 3.3 is fine for me.

Insurgency – What it is and what not

October 12th, 2008 3 comments

I lately got a talk with one of my people in Steam Friends. He claimed Insurgency sucks because there is no crosshair and he got killed within midair.

Seriously, don’t expect Insurgency to be a Counter-Strike: Source clone. It is definitely not. It’s not even a Battle Field 2 or Call of Duty 4 copy. It’s a seperate mod for Half-Life 2. The best mod I have seen so far.

In the game, you have no crosshair. This sounds differently compared to other games, but you have iron sight. This makes the game more realtistic in my eyes.

Additionally you don’t see who killed you and you don’t see who you’ve killed. This stops the “cheater”-insults at it’s beginning because you can’t link a kill to a specific person. So the game is less noobish compared to Counter-Strike: Source where you get flamed, insulted and harrassed in every possible situation.

But the most important part: If you rush like rambo and act in no teams you will lose. How I stated before, it’s not Counter-Strike: Source where you could kill the whole opponents just because you are good.

And anyway, isn’t Counter-Strike: Source a very bad Counter-Strike clone? I played CS for 6 years (starting in 2000) and when CS:S came out it was just – uh – ugly: No skill needed anymore to be good. Just rush around, shoot on the feet and hit the head. Yeah, CS:S is better than Insurgency I see /sarcasmn.

Insurgency – This is the name of a HL2 mod which is distributed over Steam using SteamWorks. It’s absolutely awesome. If you like modern warfare shooters you will like this. It is a mixture of Battle Field 2 and Call of Duty 4. But made as a mod for HL2 and as professional done as BF2 and COD4.

The objectives are easy: Capture points and kill your opponents. And capturing is the most important part which gives more moral points. There are different capture modes such as defend (once you lost a point it’s gone) or capture and recapture.

To the moral points: Every time you killed an opponent, you gain a moral point. If you capture an objective you gain 2 points. But if you do a team kill, you loose 5! If you got too less moral points, you simply run out of reinforcements. So if you got killed, you can’t respawn. As less people of your team can respawn as easier it’s getting for your opponents to win.

The maps are really well done. I already mentioned it’s as professional as BF2 or COD4: This counts for the graphics. The details are really deep and you often come to the conclusion “Is this still a Half-Life 2 mod?”.

To the gameplay: You can select two squads on both sides, and every squad has several classes. Two of every kind. My favorite class is the Sargent on US Army, because you’ll have an M4 with a really accurate scope.

This leads us to the bugs: The game is still in development. You will notice this when you select a class or team. Sometimes you select your team and class and just after this, you will get back to the teamselect-menu. This can happen several times.

The US Army is one of the most chosen team in this mod. Their weapons are really strong.

Another issue is that if you selected a class someone else selected too, he will spawn on this class first and then you will spawn. But if this class is now full, you will spawn on a random other class. This really sucks. The developers should lock a class as soon as it got selected.

And there is an issue that you sometimes don’t see the cool loading screen. It will only appear gray with the “VAC-Ban warning”.

But the most annoying issue is that the game crashes (atleast for me and Stealthrider) if you got a steamcommunity window open. Such as a steamfriends chat window. We both need to close steamfriends in order to connect to a server without crashing the game. After that, we can restart steamfriends.

Tomorrow – It all begins again

October 5th, 2008 3 comments

On monday University starts again.

I had 3 months uni-free time. You might think that’s much, but don’t forget I had to learn during that time for one practical work, 2 oral-exams, 4 normal exams and one seminar. That is very much and took 90% of that time (even on weekends).

Well, tomorrow my very last exam starts at 15h (GMT+1). As far as I know it takes 3 hours but I’m sure I will have finished it in under 2 hours. It’s Physical Chemistry. Physics for chemists may be hard for them, but not for a physician like me Smile

I just came back from the exam. I had 3 hours. The exam was the worst case you could get. But I think I’ll pass it successfully.
